Poem... Road To Recovery
By Bob Lapete

The road is long, and for many too hard
But although the hand was poorly dealt
A person must use every card

There are no simple answers
It is just a question of time
Just keep a song in your heart
And you will have piece of mind

You are lucky to have survived, this much is true
But doctors can be wrong, just believe in you
Everyone has flaws and deficits of their own
But for those with a head injury it is more readily shown

The road to recovery is covered with broken dreams
With a broken heart and unspoken needs
Yet the soul enjoys a quiet unbroken peace
with thankfulness that you too are not deceased

Just believe in yourself you will do incredibly well
You may even make a full recovery, only time will tell
In your own hands lies the final choice
Just make sure you listen for that small still voice

My goal is very simple: by sharing the experiences I have had, I would like to help kids grow up to achieve their own personal best without drugs and alcohol.
